Individuality - Meet with yourself.
The biggest freedom in life is to be yourself, to know who you are, to identify your thoughts and feelings and to express and act as an individual. But unfortunately it seems to be a rare phenomenon. Our society, family or group dilute our thoughts to the extent that we give up the ability of being oneself and merge ourselves into the collective minds of the group. This leads us to behave in a manner which is quite different to the way one would have acted as an individual.
The present article answers some important questions reflecting on the importance of Individuality and expresses some golden rules to retain the same.
Individuality is the possession of characteristics that help to set an individual apart from others thereby making him/her unique. It can also be defined as the ability to act along lines that one believes are correct for oneself.
As an individual conforms to the general beliefs and usages prevailing in the society, he will not think in a way that is out of the ordinary. Only when one has his own unique point of view and has a keen perception that does not follow the regular pattern. Only then one will come up with a creative understanding.
Individuality encourages to acquire knowledge about one self, to gain awareness about our own thoughts and feelings and to have a sense of personal responsibility. All these are very useful to become self reliant, confident, positive and creative. It will help you be more persistent, a person with a unique perception. And in today's scenario these are the key characteristics of a true leader and a visionary.
Every employer today looks for a spark in an employee. This spark is actually your individuality which makes you different and unique from the others. You don't have to be one amongst the crowd but 'someone different' in the crowd. Every individual is born with some unique talents. The efforts should be made to identify those talents and transform them optimally in relation to your job/business. Accomplishing this requires to push oneself out of the comfort zone.
Ask to yourself:
1. Do you really enjoy what you are doing?
2. Can you say 'No' to do things that you don't like doing?
3. Can you identify your strongest and weakest areas?
4. Can you pinpoint things that you can do better than the others?
Steve Job a billionaire co founder of Apple was a college drop-out, Gabrielle Chanel, sole founder of Chanel Brand was raised in an orphanage under extreme poverty. Henry Ford founder of Ford Motors was a jeweller. Their success came from mere understanding of what unique they were in. They just pursued their passion. And rest became history.
Individuality is indeed capable of giving us a entirely different perspective of life ,it also imparts us with the capacity to competently deal with any new situation other than what one is trained for and what one is familiar with.
